My Little Rock Story: I moved from Northwest Arkansas to Little Rock 23 years ago, and it was one of the best decisions I ever made. As a graduate in my 20s with a communications degree, it was easy for me to find jobs and support and make friends through the numerous networking opportunities that Little Rock had to offer.

As an artist, I have been blown away by how much the Little Rock community embraces art and culture. Virtually every week, you can find some art-related event happening somewhere in the city. I am also impressed by how much Little Rock’s artists support each other. Friends who have moved here from other parts of the country have told me how hard it is to be an artist in larger cities because the artists there are fiercely competitive, but in my experience, the artists in Little Rock are always friendly, helpful, and encouraging.

I also love Little Rock’s diverse neighborhoods, its exploding culinary scene, and its abundance of opportunities to enjoy nature.

I chose the Agasi 7 Rooftop because I’m a big fan of dining al fresco and I love taking in the beautiful downtown skyline. I wish there were more opportunities in Little Rock to enjoy both at once! To me, a more livable Little Rock would be one with a more accessible mass transit system and more walkable neighborhoods. In too many parts of the city, sidewalks are nowhere to be found. In addition, I wish the River Market District had more shops and galleries for things to do in between eating and drinking. And one day I hope that we will realize the full potential of the Arkansas River with more riverfront facing attractions.

Artist Profile: I channel my obsession with cats into art to make people smile and laugh. I make hand-cut collages using materials scoured from vintage magazines, books, and record albums.
