The Artist’s Little Rock Story
I always wanted out of Arkansas. Leaving Little Rock only made me love it more.
I did my student teaching at Gibbs under the incredible Susan Purvis and have spent many hours working in Dunbar Garden. The parades through the garden have always felt magical. My children now attend Gibbs and the magic continues. My 6 year old daughter is a fantastic artist and assisted in the creation of this piece.
A more livable Little Rock focuses on building community in meaningful and sustainable ways. I have three children and sometimes everything is just.. Hard. Having a strong network for meals, play, art etc is so important to not just survival but thriving in this place we call home.
Artist Profile I don’t know how not to be an artist. I have been an art educator for over a decade so I can do a little of it all, but I prefer methods that involve lots of steps and layers. Fibers is near and dear to me. But, I also love printmaking and photography. I just want to do it all.
